I have been thinking about the Rapture prediction made by Pastor Camping and I am wondering what made him decide to read through the bible and begin all that calculation to predict the end of the world. I have visions of him going home, after giving a sermon to his followers and sitting in a comfy chair, scratching his head and thinking, ” What can I do next”? “I know I will work on my theory that I can calculate the end of the world by looking at the bible and determining which numbers to use, from some of the verses”. I believe that this latest prediction was his second one to fail.
Why? Is Pastor Camping so fed up with the world that he is looking for the day it will end? Maybe he believes he will be one of the chosen who will be taken up with Jesus at the time of the Rapture? I just don’t understand why he would want to know when the end of the world is, maybe it’s just me but, I would rather not know. I am quite happy to plod along with my life and I have no inclination to know when the world will end. When it happens, I doubt very much anyone will have time to realise it anyway and besides I wouldn’t want to spend a minute of my time worrying about it, what will be will be.
However, just to keep the little thoughts running round, Nostredamus predicted that a catastrophe will happen in December 2012, which just happens to coincide with the end of the Mayan calander. Am I worried about this? Hmm, well I wasn’t until I just finished typing the words Mayan calendar when the gale force wind blew the door to my house open … arghhhh, :). Like I have just said, “what will be, will be”, there is nothing a small human being like me can do about it.
