Saying goodbye

This poem was written for a friend who had passed away.

Saying goodbye is the hardest thing

When friendships blossom and birds still sing

The flowers we planted are blooming still

And the wind blows through the daffodil

Close to Loch Awe we sang songs of old

The tales of days gone by were told

Sounds of our laughter are still so clear

And the precious moments we hold most dear

Thank you for just being you

And the friendship that you gave us too

Your kindness to us was everything

Saying goodbye is the hardest thing

  1. Saying good bye to loved ones is never and easy thing to do but as much as we might like things to stay the same, change is an inevitable part and parcel of life. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thank you for dropping by. Yes it was a sad time, and I don’t do poems like that often as I find it so difficult. This poem was the first I had ever done for a beareavement and the only other one I did was for my Dad which is still too difficult for me to share at the moment 🙂
