Words from the 16th Century

The versus below are attributed to the Lady of Lawers who was a prophet in Breadalbane,  Scotland.   The verse was once on a stone written in Gaelic, the English translation underneath.     The Lady of Lawers was around in the 16th century.

Caith mar a gheibh,
is gheibh mar- a chaitheas,
Caomhain ‘s co dha?
Cuimhnich am bas.”

Translation,

” Spend as you get,
And get as you spend,
Save, and for whom ?
Remember death.”
